SHAD
This set of three photo's were taken at Stretton Aquaduct on the Shroppie (Industry Narrowboats) the boats are (from bank) Sultan (ex-FMC Steamer) I have been informed that this boat is actually BARONESS (also ex-FMC steamer) renamed by Ernie Thomas after he had the original SULTAN cut up in the 50's. My grandfather recounted a tale to me of coming round the turn at Birchills to see a steamer on the bank being cut up for scrap, even in those days it upset him to see such a magnificent boat being chopped up. He went on to own the VULCAN also ex steamer, also in shot are Bream (Fish class FMC Motor) and Birmingham (Woolwich Motor)
